IBEC Retail Skillnet

IBEC Retail Skillnet head office is the base for the National Co-ordinator, Sean Carlin, and is also where the administration for Retail Occupational Qualifications, Assessor Training, Certificate and Diploma in Retail Management and various other retail related training takes place.

Sean Carlin, IBEC Retail Skillnet National Co-ordinator

Sean Carlin joined IBEC Retail Skillent from McElhinneys Department Store in Ballybofey. Sean worked in McElhinneys for 18 years and was general manager. During his time there he introduced many training initiatives across the various departments in the store. He was a member of DOSC in the U.K and, in this capacity, he worked closely with the John Lewis Partnership and the Arcadia group in the U.K.

Previously Sean’s background was in Athletics and he competed at National and International level for Ireland. He was an Irish record holder and past Irish champion in the decathlon.

Sean started IBEC Retail Skillnet as a regional project in County Donegal, taking it to become a fully fledged national project over the last 2 years.

 

 

Theresa Gallagher, IBEC Retail Skillnet Office Manager 

Theresa has worked with IBEC Retail Skillnet since 2004 and was involved in the delivery of a successful cross border initiative with retailers in Northern Ireland. Theresa is a trained FETAC assessor and has experience of training delivery in stores throughout the North West.

Previously Theresa worked with Sainsburys in roles within the Customer Service and Training departments.

Her job as office manager includes co-ordinating training provision throughout the country and providing support to Network member companies. 

 

 

Cathy O’Connor, IBEC Retail Skillnet Administrator

Cathy has worked on the IBEC Retail Skillnet project since it’s inception and as such is an experienced and valuable member of the IBEC Retail Skillnet team.

Cathy has extensive experience in the secretarial field and has worked in the U.K and Ireland in this capacity.

Her job as Administrator includes Registration of students, candidates and assessors, processing of Awards, Certification and Events co-ordinator. Cathy also has responsibility for invoicing and accounts.
